Inhambane VILANCULOS 200km from Morrungulo and 700km from Maputo, Vilanculos is close to the Bazaruto Archipelago, the chain of islands which are dotted along the coast. Tourism is well-established in Vilanculos which has been a favourite destination of holidaymakers since before the war. It is not possible to phone direct to the area to arrange bookings but should you wish to reserve accommodation in advance, Paraíso Services are happy to receive postal enquiries. Flights to Vilanculos International Airport are frequent and Sabin Air has direct flights from Maputo on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (US$190 return). There are also flights from Johannesburg, Nelspruit and Harare. Visitors to Vilanculos Beach Lodge should note that transport is available from the airport to the lodge on request. INHASSORO This town is the last coastal resort on the road to Beira, which continues inland to cross the Save River before joining the EN6. Anyone wishing to travel further than Inhassoro on this road is well advised to use a 4WD vehicle. The turn for Inhassoro is 50km north of the turn for Vilanculos and the town is a further 13km from the EN1. The town itself depends on fishing for its survival but has a good beach and a nice relaxed atmosphere. Like Vilanculos, there is no phone service to the area.
