 Zimbabwe Border

The Beira corridor continues from the border town of Machipanda to Harare. At the border there is a foreign exchange office where you can sell your meticais and buy Zimbabwean dollars. To cross into Zimbabwe you must pay the standard fee of 25,000MT for your car, 28,000MT per person crossing and Z$130.00 (third party insurance for 30 days). If you are travelling in a car hired in Mozambique, you must obtain a letter from the agency allowing you to cross the border.

Across the border, you are close to the town of Mutare and the Eastern Highlands region. Mutare is a popular shopping centre owing to its proximity to Mozambique and has many choices of accommodation and restaurants. From Mutare the hills of the Vumba region are just a day trip away. Nyanga and Chimanimani could be visited over a weekend stay and from Chimanimani, it is possible to climb Mount Binga, Mozambique's highest point.
